1 Thessalonians 5:16-25

THE GOSPEL ON THE MOVE

Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-25

“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (1 Thess. 5:18)

A story was told of an African boy in an Open Air Crusade in a campus in Nigeria. The devil bowed to the voice of the lad in a shrine

The boy lost his mother, for lack of care, was taken to live with a Christian godfather. He decided to visit his uncle in the village, unfortunately it was the festival day of his uncle’s god. He entered the shrine and the Uncle was startled. He saw the boy and welcomed him. He advised him to go and eat at home since one of his wife who is a Christian will give him something to eat. He went on; “When your mother was alive, she wouldn’t enter and eat in the shrine.” But the insisted and was served and ate the meal after given thanks. Then he went home to sleep. The Uncle woke him up in the early morning warning him not to come to the shrine again. That his god rejected his sacrifice because he prayed in the name of the Higher spirit. That made his children to leave the father’s idol and the became Christians before the father died.

That second sacrifice cost him a cow and other stuff. This shows that He who is with us is greater that he who is with them.

HYMN

In Heaven’s eternal bliss
The loveliest straining this,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
This song of sacred joy,
It never seems to cloy,
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Yours in the Lord’s Vineyard (Dojeh J. E).
