“My son, if sinners entice you, you shall not consent.” (Proverbs 1:10)

An evangelist known as W. Romaine was once asked to take a hand during a game of cards. After a few moments thought, he quietly rose to his feet, and took off his hat. When the others asked him what he was about to do, he said, “I am going to ask God’s blessing on the game.”

“Oh, but we never ask a blessing from God on such an occasion,” one man said.

“Then,” said Romaine, “I never engage in anything upon which I cannot ask of God’s blessing.”

That ended the game!

Beloved, beware of those who will ask you to engage in a game of cards. The curse of God rest upon such. Many a fine young man’s or woman’s life has been ruined because of a game of cards which sent him into a life of gambling.

If you are a parent and there is a park of cards in your home, or any game which you cannot ask of God’s blessing, you would do well to burn them!

Nay, vain world! I turn away,
Though they seem fair and good;
That friendly, outstretched hand of thine
Is stained with Jesus Blood.

Yours in the Lord’s Vineyard (Dojeh James E).
